Unusual Holiday : Where Banning Plastic has a Different Meaning

So i'm back from a few days away at the east coast of Yorkshire. I've been there many times as a child and an adult. I've always love where i live and no better place on a summers day.
We were based just outside Filey and travelled out each day to different parts of the coast. Either by walking or by car.

So what was different this year compared to last year?

Firstly I was shocked to see so much erosion of the beaches. I've been going to the coast since i was a child but I've never seen it so bad. I will do a separate post on the erosion.

Secondly was the shops and cafe's. I go there with my wife and we decide how things will be paid for .
I said i'd pay for our main dinner time meals and my wife would buy the drinks and ice creams at the cafe's. I always use cash, not had a credit card for 15 years although i do have a debit card but only use that online. My wife always pays everything with a debit card.
On the first day i paid for the dinner in cash. Then we went to our usual cafe. To my surprise when my wife tried to pay with her card. The response was "We don't take cards of any kind , cash only"
Later we tried a different cafe and exactly the same "no cards accepted" The ice cream parlour's were the same "no cards accepted"
So it seems that the majority of small shops and cafe's don't use/accept any type of cards

Suites my philosophy down to the ground...

Cash is King for today Crypto is king for Tomorrow and Gold is King forever
