Zoe's photo shoot with Sam and Dean Winchester, and surprise appearance by Jim Beaver (Bobby woot!) (Supernatural Convention Finale)

So this is it ladies and gents, the main event of the three day extravaganza, the primary reason that most people come from all over the globe-- to see those lovable, badass monster hunting brothers live and in color- give it up for Sam and Dean Winchester!

(APPLAUSE, WHISTLING, CHEERS...and some very girlish shrieking)

I'm really impressed with myself for making this gif from my own recording, it's amusing to watch a few times through- like a dance!

Though there are many excellent characters in this show, it is the dynamic between these two that has kept it on the air for thirteen years. The actors Jared Padalecki and Jensen Ackles have truly become brothers, even buying houses around the corner from one another in Texas with their families. Our first experience with them was a little over a year ago when we went to one day of the Pittsburgh convention they spoke about how close their children are to one another. Cutest bromance ever.

My initial impression at that time was that Jared (Sam) is one of the most loving human beings I have ever encountered. I watched as my daughter stood in line for her photo and he greeted each person as if they were a dear friend, you could literally feel his big heart from across the room.

Jensen is a bit more reserved, in fact I would say that Jared brings out the best in the hunky former soap opera star. But he's still absolutely real, nothing shallow or Hollywood tabloid about these two.

So the first picture I have here is actually from the previous year, some of you have seen it in a past post. It just struck me as I was looking at it, as well as the two individual photos, how much my baby has grown up in the past fourteen months.

She didn't get a dual photo this year, but considering how awesome that one turned out, it's probably for the best. We've looked through oodles of photo ops and I have yet to see one with the two of them that came out that great :)

Here we have her and Jared from last year (That convention took place off season, hence the beard)

And now this year...obviously she went for a theme rather than a hug, but just look at her! She's a young woman!

Then last year with Jensen--

Damn it's incredible how different Jensen looks without that beard! (Younger, wayyy younger) And because the theme was him protecting her from a monster, you couldn't get a more "Dean" expression. As for Zoe's expression, haha, she was a bit annoyed with how wide she'd made her eyes, though I assured her that if someone was being attacked by a monster, that's pretty much how they would look :)

Cliff. The personal bodyguard for the boys who also guest starred in a few episodes happened to walk out of the photo room while we were in line.

He was more than happy to pose for a quick picture with Zoe- yet another example of how great this crew is.

Okay, so going back to what I said about Jared. This time around, like last year I observed as he gave each and every person his undivided attention, making them feel so special many of them had tears running down their cheeks when they walked away. Meeting your hero is an emotional experience as it is, but when that hero lives up to your expectations, forget about it.

Zoe cried the first time she met him. This time she was less overwhelmed but still radiant. "He is just so loving and awesome mom!" Was her first words as we walked away. To be clear though, she's not a silly girl that wishes she could marry him someday. One of the things she likes most about him in fact, is how in love he is with his wife. And he is. He mentioned Gen at least half a dozen times during the panel with clear adoration. (Awwww)

Now there are some rules when going into these things, and one of these rules are that you're not supposed to give them gifts. Well Zoe had made Jared a bracelet out of lettered beads which said AKF- The acronym for his charity Always Keep Fighting
and as she went to hand it to him the security made a move to take it.

Jared was having none of that.

He put up his hand to stop the stone faced woman in her tracks, then thanked Zoe with the sweetest smile as he took the bracelet, pausing a moment to read it before putting it in his pocket. Also frowned upon is a hug once the picture is done, but he wrapped her in one anyway, making her day if not her entire weekend. All of which I got to witness from a few feet away- (tip for moms, you get to hang out in the photo room and have your fill of eye candy)

Jared is definitely a hugger. I think he particularly likes to hug Jensen because his best friend is NOT a hugger.

These pictures were honestly the only ones that came out with any kind of quality- not really the word I'd use, but you know what I mean:

Obviously this is a particularly terrible picture, but they look ghostly and demonic, so I thought it deserved a place here.

Okay, so I mentioned in the title that Jim Beaver made a surprise appearance. What actually happened is that...and this is rather sad, particularly for me being a huge Walking Dead fan...Jeffrey Dean Morgan couldn't make it. They told us it was because of the hurricane going on- Screw you hurricane!- so to appease the people as best as they could they brought Jim Beaver out to replace him.

If you are a purist, then being at a Supernatural convention you honestly would have to prefer Bobby to John considering how big a part of the show the former is compared to the latter. Most of the people there were thrilled with the change up.

And now for the boys, I apologize in advance for the less than amateurish recordings. And if you only have time to check out one or two, I recommend the last and the first. Regrettably I seemed to miss some of the best and funniest moments.

For example one girl asked if they could go anywhere in the world where would they go. Well Jared instantly said Texas to be with his family (which was super cute and sweet), but the expression on Jensen's face was hilarious, followed by a loud snore, then he rephrased the question to "Dude, imagine you can teleport somewhere to meet your family and they can go with you, where would you go then?" Jared: "Well where did we teleport to meet?" Jensen: "Sheboygan." Jared, "Why go anywhere, we're already in Sheboygan." Hahaha!

Okay boys and girls, that wraps up my fantastic mother/daughter trip. It truly was a party in Pittsburgh, and if you ever had the inclination to go to a convention for this show I highly recommend you act on it. They visit many cities from coast to coast and even make their way to the UK.

I have a theory that the reason they're so awesome has something to do with most of the main cast being male, with only the coolest chics around getting a lot of air time... Hey, don't get mad at me girls, there just tends to be a lot more drama and cattiness within our gender, particularly in television.

Okay, now we're done- Whew, I'm not sure what was more of a work out, the miles I walked while at the convention (did I mention that place was freaking huge? I could have fit my entire block in just one of the convention rooms) or putting together these posts. But there was just so much going on and I wanted to share as much of the experience with you as I could.
