Arrange Marriage and Divorce in Mauritius- The Society
There has been an incredible increase in the divorce rate in Mauritius since 2012 to 2017. It is true that marriage is considered sacred in our society (especially in Hindu religion). Marriage must consist of unconditional love, trust, sacrifices and compromises however nowadays you will find that some couples are not ready to do any sacrifices or compromises even though they did a love marriage.
Now, on the other hand, in this century especially in countries like India and Mauritius, our elders still believe in arrange marriage. Many problems arise when the girl is forced to marry someone who she does not know. Some girls accept their parent’s decision just for the sake of their parents love and honour while some girls fight for their right. But there are very few who are actually ready to fight, some are successful in their combat and unluckily some are not.
In regards of arrange marriage, some of them are lucky because it work perfectly whereas for some the marriage is a total disaster. I feel very sorry for those girls who sacrificed themselves and get married and had to lead their life as per their husband and family. Some woman decides to stay like this throughout their entire life because they are afraid. Afraid of the society, afraid to fight against their parents, But is it right!
Only because of the fear of their family and society they sacrifice their dreams and passion. I do not understand why in this century divorce is considered as a disgrace for the family. If the marriage is not working after trying hard then what is the point of being unhappy in your whole life. You need to stand up because everyone has the right to be happy.
Those are lucky whose parents are not orthodox and accept them even after their divorce. They get the chance to build their life in their own way. But still the society thinks down about divorced woman. Why? Why can’t a girl live her life in her way? So many questions and unanswered.
On the other side, the woman who decides to fight for her right and leave her marriage receives no support from the family, friends or society. But still she stand up, fight for her right, the right to be happy and to be loved. She has the power to voice out and wants to lead a better life.
Unfortunately, her parents do not accept her and breaks all kind of relationship with her. How sad is it? Just because the society thinks that divorce is a disgrace, they abandon their child. These people are sick!
But she is a fighter and she will survive without them. She will lead a good life, has a job and finally be happy. It is hard to be alone yes but it is harder to be with someone who you do not love or who do not know your value.
I only hope that these people mentality will change one day and we will have a better world.

The world is loosing alot by not upholding morals.....the purpose of marriage which is for procreation and keeping each other company in love has been defeated, most couples don't want to endure each other until the time they will start to enjoy the dividend of marriage. Love which is the principal ingredient of marriage is Lost. Thanks for sharing

The situation is the same here in Pakistan too. When my mother decided to end her 18 year long marriage with my father, she didn't receive much support too. However, she knew she couldn't withstand him anymore as he was clearly poisonous to her and to us (me and my 3 siblings), so she stood up for her rights and ours. Her determination helped her stay strong and beat all odds against her to live independently. Things weren't easy for us and especially for her, but she knew she had to stay strong for us and herself so she did. Sadly, not many women here have the courage and keep living in a poisonous marriage.
I can imagine her feelings especially when you get no support from the family. I am happy that she made the right decision and stand up for her happiness and for your children.. keep visiting...
Interesting post. I can imagine that an arranged marriage would be very difficult. It is hard enough if you know and love the person from the start. I watched this show in the US called "Married By Mom and Dad" and I loved it. Sadly, only one couple is still married (and seems very happy). They didn't meet until they walked down the aisle. So crazy, but made for good TV. Anyway, I think both partners must be willing to work for the marriage. It can't be just one sided. Both must be willing to commit and make sacrifices for the benefit of the marriage and their partner. #theunmentionables

It actually depends on the person to person, if person really loves you whether it is an arrange marriage or a love marriage then he will sit with you and sail through any problems whatsoever bdw on other hand they just want a single mistake from the other half to just call off the marriage?
