DOG AND CHICKEN TALE

Sometime in the last couple of weeks, I had what I might call one of the highlights of the year 2019. I had to go stay with my brother at a specialist clinic where he went to be operated for a fistula (a tube in the gut). I had never had cause to stay that long in a hospital/clinic before. Thanks to the Highest Heavens that all went well and he was duly discharged.

Had things been equal, that would have been a period I would term 'most boring', but for the fact that there was almost constant power supply there and so one got to whirl away the boredom with some good time online - compared to this new abode I've found myself where we've been in total blackout of sorts.

Anyways, this surgeon's residence is just adjacent to the clinic, a two-in-one compound of sorvs, seperated by long bars of protectors that served as fence through which one could see virtually all that went on at the other end.

From my brother's ward, we thus had a good view of their backyard - everyone going in or out, their dog, fat chicken, fine goats, etc.

I had grown accustomed to sitting by and watching every movement through the ward window. One cool evening, a funny scene caught my attention:
The chicken let out a cry as it flew out of the backyard to our side of the clinic through the gate that happened to be left open that moment.

What pursued it?

The dog!

Did he want to eat the chicken?

I seriously don't think so as he had bounced past within the yard while the chicken flew out. It likely only intended to scare the chick or just an attempt at some play; but the poor chick got scared out of its feathers!

Sometimes, our lives are just like this.
Not every threat we perceive are actually threats.
Not every enemy we perceive are actually enemies.
Nor are all obstacles we assume really obstacles.

But let's ask ourselves, what's our reaction at the first sight of such things?

Do you brace up for them? Or do you chicken out at their mere approach?

I believe the best way to make the most out of life and every situation (favourable or unfavourable) is to maintain our composure and examine every situation closely. That way, we don't get to flee from blessings and opportunities that could well come in disguise. You know life can be very tricky at times.

But come to think of the dog and chicken saga,

What if the dog was really after the chicken?

And what if the chicken had stood its ground and confronted the dog with its beak?

Hehehehe!

You never can tell.

Miracles happen every day in our world.

You never can tell your strength...

Until you dare!
