You must have come across numerous literature on how to make people to like or love you. These advices range from never arguing with people, lavishing compliments on them, even when you feel otherwise, never criticising them and always wearing an impressive smile even when prevailing situations dictate otherwise. These are some of the cardinal rules that these friend-winning books propound.

Well, all these are worthwhile ideas to adopt but none of them can drive the nail home in the matter of attracting love and likeability from other people.

You may or may not know it but the thing we all know as the golden rule is very much the key in the matter of winning love and popularity.

Prof. D. Laird at Cogate University once conducted an experiment with some students in his psychology class in which he gave them 60 seconds to think and write down the initials of the people they disliked. Some could think of only one or two people. Others thought of as much as twenty people and more and were still blasting away with their pen when the signal for the end of the half minute rang.

The fact is this:
Those who disliked only one or two acquaintances were almost generally liked. But those who easily manufactured twenty and more initials of enemies were almost universally hated too.That is it. When you point a finger at someone, the other four fingers of the palm point back at you. Do unto others as you wish to be done unto you.
