How I Lifted, Pulled and Pushed Over 1.8 Million Ounces Of Metal...All By My Lonesome

in #life7 years ago

Here we are again reviewing what I've been up to in the gym. It's been a couple of weeks since my last update which has been a matter of incremental steps each and every session.

I'm following the How To Build A Classic Physique program which is mainly barbell focused. There are a few other supplementary exercises that I do too. Even counting those ones the number of different movements that I do each session is 5 or less.

Simple mind needs a simple workout.

The basic movements:

Back Squat

Front Squat

Bench Press

Overhead Press

Dips (weighted)

Dead Lift

Pull Ups (weighted)

These movements are about 90% of the total weight that I move in this program. I've been doing it for over 6 months and I feel it's been a great experience.

Not because everything's been perfect and that it's been a steady stream of new personal marks. Far from it!

I've had my share of set backs and plateaus. Right now my biggest plateau is the bench press.

(BTW, I am not in any of the photos.)

My occasional weight room posts are as much for myself as anybody since it gives me an outlet to confirm that I am actually sticking to this program for as longs as I have. Still, I hope that maybe one reader of this post or any of my others will take some heart for whatever program/system that they are following.

Thanks for reading!

Starting strength is my book recommendation for anyone looking to get into the traditional lifts.

Starting Strength by Mar Rippatoe is a must read for any lifting enthusiast! Also Bigger, Lean Stronger by Mike Mathews is another good investment. It basically covers Starting Strength + nutritional info and some of the science behind strength training and muscle hypertrophy.

Keep up the good work though @deej! Followed to keep up to date on your training and show support :)
