I bet many would never kill the animals, and not be able to see the suffering without feeling angry / sad.
Only the lowest of consciousnesses would accept this industry and the suffering / environmental destruction if causes. So it might be something there ^^
If you believe in reincarnation, eating animals would be highly unsafe :P Since it could be anyone you use to know!
