Can you wear the shoes?

So a friend visited today and while seeing her off I quickly made a comment saying "please don't think too much". Well coming from a friend this should be harmless, then she quickly asked me if I wouldn't think too much if I were the one, just before we said our goodbyes.

Thinking about it I couldn't help but wonder how I would respond if I were going through the same challenge and I realized that most times we all assume to understand what a person is going through and even feel they should respond and feel a certain way while facing a challenge. We shouldn't always expect people to deal with challenges the same way we do because our lives, thoughts, temperaments, upbringing and way of life differ. It's really easy to be at the other side of the grass, advising and judging a situation without really wearing the shoes to know where it actually hurts. This is not to say we aren't to be there for our friends and loved ones, but we should try to put ourselves in their situations and make an effort to understand, then we would really advise, and help accordingly. Humanity first!
