RE: A Letter To Triggered Millennials

in #life5 years ago

I'm a millenial and I would say by current standards I lean more to conservative side which is a strange thing to say because a few years back being liberal was the way to go during the civil rights movements where injustice wasn't looked for and knitpicked but was in your face. You didn't choose to be an activist you had the calling and you answered.

These kids have no great war and focusing on minutia of the problem with such ferocity, like i realise they have misguided good intentions and all but even if you were to achieve your most outlandish of thought policing goals it means nothing in the grand scheme of things.

If only all that energy could be channelled into value generating goods and services instead of bickering over things that wont matter in the long term we would be in such a better space as a society

Sort:

There's plenty to be pissed off about for sure and so many injustices in the world and society, but breaking down into a triggered nervous mess just because someone challenges your belief is acceptable when you're seven or eight years old, but by the time you're 18 it's time to grow up.

People with opposing views are not the enemy. It takes many perspectives and being able to discuss them intelligently to get the full picture on any issue. None of us have the 100% correct answer to anything just because we feel the way we do.

And seeing people screaming at others for being intolerant is like yelling at someone to love you or else. It just doesn't work.

Besides, It's fun taking a piss out of the absurdity of such a stance, the aim of this entire post.
