This post reminds me of terrific book I read a few years ago entitled The Four Hour Work Week, by Tim Ferriss. While it's not exactly aimed at what you're stating, it does have strong ties to it.

The premise of the book is that you'll work much more efficiently and profitably if you eliminate tasks that really do not add value to your overall output or life. Live more, work less!
