What is a true self of us?

What if we have wings and look down earth from the sky? What if we can take off every roof and observe people's behavior? Well, maybe we'll be surprised by their real aspect. Some of it will let us down, some of it will make us respect them.
I can't define what aspect is the reality of us. I really don't know. We always wear different masks at our company, school, any type of social gathering and even home. How can we dare to assure only 'a mask for home' is our real aspect? A mask at the company, which makes us flatter our boss can be a real aspect or a mask at the social gathering which makes us pretend to be a quite outgoing person also can be a real aspect.
Imagine incompatible tendencies collide into each other. For example, Mike is quite talkative in his home and say nothing in his company. Is he a garrulous person or reticent person?
Maybe there isn't any real aspect of us. We just wear different masks depending on time, place and all that stuff. There's nothing we can do, so relax. We don't have a kind of personality disorder.

만약 우리가 날개를 가지고 있고 하늘에서 땅을 내려다 보면 어떨까요? 만약 우리가 모든 지붕을 열어 그 안에 있는 사람들의 행동을 관찰할 수 있다면 어떨까요? 아마 우리는 사람들의 실체에 놀라고 말겠지요. 그들의 어떤 면은 우리를 실망 시킬 것이고 반면 어떤 면은 그들을 우러러 보도록 만들겁니다.
저는 어떤 것이 우리의 실제 모습인지 모르겠습니다. 우리는 회사나 학교, 각종 모임과 심지어 집에서까지 각기 다른 가면을 쓰고 있지요. 하지만 감히 어떻게 '집에서 쓰는 가면'만이 우리의 실제 모습이라고 말할 수 있겠어요? 상사에게 아부하는 '회사용 가면'과 사교적인 척하는 '사교모임용 가면' 모두 우리의 실제 모습일 수도 있지 않겠어요?
두 개의 충돌되는 성향이 있다고 가정해보지요. 예를 들면 Mike는 집에서는 수다스럽지만 회사에서는 말을 한 마디도 하지 않아요. 그는 수다스러운 사람인가요 과묵한 사람인가요?
아마 개개인의 본 모습이라는 것은 없을지도 몰라요. 우리는 그저 시간과 장소, 상황에 맞게 다른 가면을 쓰는 것 뿐입니다. 그러니 걱정하지는 않아도 됩니다. 우리에게 어떤 성격장애가 있는 것은 아닐테니까요.
