9 years old dream come true !!

That's my mom worshiping the brand new YAMAHA FZS. Its Indian way of praying for safe rides on the automobile.

A dream doesn't become reality through magic; it takes sweat, determination and hard work

Back in 2009 I had a dream to buy a sports bike Yamaha-FZ. It was one of the most trending bikes back then. Since trending it was obviously a costly one too.

Let me take you 9 years back. I was in college taking my Computer Engineering classes. I was in the second year of my 4 years degree course. My college was 22 KM away i.e. 13.5 miles. The college was located in a remote place with scarce connectivity from the city. Having said that, the public transport was always overflowing. And I literally mean the word overflowing. People use to cling on to anything which could be held to move with the buses. Obviously the frequency was low too and thus it was a difficult commute to the college.
It used to take minimum 3 hops to reach to the college and at times even 5. I traveled to college in such situations for almost 2 years. Changing weathers made it more difficult to commute. Obviously I desperately needed an independent and better ride to college to concentrate on my studies. I did all my research and convinced my parents to buy a bike, the dream bike, YAMAHA-FZ. Now comes the twist.
I come from a middle class family. The price of the bike was way above what we could afford. Adding to this cost factor was its mileage. Yamaha-FZ ran less than 45 KM per liter of fuel. Which means I would need 1 liter fuel every day. Which was also not in our reach. The only option was to buy a cheaper and fuel efficient bike. I bought a Hero Honda Passion Pro which ran 70 KM per liter of petrol.
Ever since then I rode the same bike to college, internship, first job and even my current job. Its been 9 years now. I have worked hard, saved enough money and brought myself to a much better financial position since then.
Not that I am rich now but richer than what I was 9 years ago. I have enough money to afford a sports bike and even the fuel it burns. And fortunately Yamaha has launched a revamped version of the best seller bike. The YAMAHA FZS 2.0.
My old companion Hero Honda Passion Pro is still fit and fine. It still runs smooth after 9 years and I am going to intermittently use FZS and Passion.
More than me my younger brother needs a bike to commute to office and here I am, buying the FZ. Not that I am old but the slightly younger generation needs the stylish looking bikes to ride.

Finally an FZ joins our collection of automobiles. And its a dream completed after 9 years.
Feeling accomplished

Haha. Thanks. Its an awesome bike. Loving it.

Congratulations on your dream bike, Nikhil!

sorry if missed a lot of your post ;( It'll make it up to you

Thanks. Np. Everyone becomes busy at times

Nice bike. I have a Kawasaki ZX 6R, but I rarely ride it any more. I really should sell it, but I don't want to give it up.

Ohhh. Riding a bike is fun. Don't giveup yet. You will find some time.

LOL. That's what I keep telling myself year after year.

Haha... I love my machine. The power it generates is simply awesome.

Just be careful. That incredible power can get you into trouble real quick! I learned my lesson the hard way. I was trying to catch up to a sports car that had a good head start since I was still putting on my helmet when it left. I forgot about a sharp bend in the road and was shifting up through the gears (different bike, but same idea), flew past a truck and then saw the bend. No idea of how fast I was going, but I knew it was too fast for the corner. Slammed on my brakes and began to skid. Eased off on the brakes to regain control, but ended up hitting a concrete barrier and flew off the bike. I'm lucky to still be alive and have no permanent injuries. Don't allow bad judgement to wipe out your nice bike and harm yourself. And watch out for the other drivers! Always drive defensively.
