Admitting Stupidity - How I Overcame So Much Failure

Admitting to your Mistakes

"I like people admitting they were complete stupid horses' asses. I know I'll perform better if I rub my nose in my mistakes. This is a wonderful trick to learn." - Charlie Munger

When we recognize our faults, mistakes, and failures a great wisdom comes to release the fountain of intelligence to know what was done that didn't work and not to commit to the same mistake again.

Charlie says we can learn from our failures only if we accept responsibility for them and examine exactly why we failed. Blaming somebody else or shrinking the responsibility is a missed learning opportunity.

My Story

Over the past 5 years I have been working diligently on bettering myself with self development and doing everything I NEED to do, to get where I want to be. During this time I had 2 years of complete non stop failure. Nothing worked and everything seemed to work against me. I lost tons of money, friends, direction, and the list goes on. This did however teach me my most important lessons and at the time, I wished I did not go through this at all. Now I am ever so grateful. I learned how important mindset is, body, health and all the most important aspects to be successful and happy. I can concur anything I set my mind to now.

I often bring up all my mistakes, to show others how stupid and not smart I am. How educating and working on yourself will put you at great lengths in the world. I love to fail. I have failed so much that it does not bother me one bit and I embrace it completely. Failures have taught me my best lessons so I have no fear to fail. Nothing can bring me down but myself.

It's all mindset - @bitdollar picture

Just recently I had an enlightening moment. I was thinking how I overcame so much failures and negative energy even as a kid. I failed in school since I was in grade 1. I never did well on tests and teachers always wanted to put me in "extra learning" classes for students with hard time learning or disabilities. I went through so many times, looking at my test and seeing horrible marks below 50%, while the entire class had great grades. How did I overcome such low thinking of myself??

I got use to failure, early on as a kid. I kept my confidence, I never believed what the tests said or what teachers told me. Now I am 30 and failure does not effect my ego in any which way. I do things with the intention to fail, so I can adapt. Maybe this is the reason I have had success in my life and I know nothing will stop me going forward.

It reminds me of amazing successful stories such as Richard Branson. He has a learn disability and is one of the most successful people on earth. He has dyslexia which is a reading and speaking disability. Guess what... He crushes it!! No excuses, he made it happen and you know what? We all can!

Agree... It's all in our mind... Our mindset... We are who we think we are..

Very well said. I'm in a similar situation with mainly failures in my entrepreneur aspect of my life. I'm 32 now and I've tried many different type of businesses but so far nothing i succeeded with. One of the most important lesson i've learned that there is no success without failure. Actually i need to rephrase it: It is Mistake not failure as you can fail only if you give up. Making mistakes is part of the game. As you said we need to be responsible for all our acts and then we can learn from the mistakes we did. I truly believe, whatever goal you can plant in your mind, you can achieve it.

For everyone but especially an entrepreneur that is continuing to grow will go through "growing pains" as they call it because you have to always move into uncharted territories. This will always put us in positions of unknown and seeking answers. We will attempt things without guidance and have to work out the kinks. This is why listening to professional, getting coaches or mentors is very beneficial in any craft.

If you go through no lessons, mistakes, or failures, you would be blinded moving forward to your success and undoubtedly have a bigger issue down the road.

When we are responsible for all our actions and accept it, only great learning for everything can happen and be appreciated which will ultimately get us to our goals. :D

I believe what goals you plant you can achieve also. Thanks so much for sharing!

I think for me the hardest part is having a mentor as I tend to try do things as I think it will work instead of listening to someone who already made the mistakes.

Yea we all do, it' from ego that is not helpful to us. We are stubborn of trying to be correct and not wanting to be vulnerable. Love breaking that down within me, opens up so much in the world to us.

That's a great attitude to failure. I agree that it makes you a better person, and whatever money or friends you lost, they were preparing you for the person you needed to become. In many ways, those that we leave behind on our journey to success, they were just a burden to carry on the way. So it's their loss and never ours!

Thank you I believe so as well!
