I stop in once in awhile, and take something to my friend in the Nursing Home. I used to spend time with HER mom before here, in the Nursing Home too which is a neat legacy.
This week, I went and bought another decent chocolate bar for her and made this sweet vase with not-real flowers LOL.
Flowers and chocolate are a sweet way to round out a nice visit, right???
Should we exercise some kindness and encouragement towards each other as much as possible?
Yes.
So I will keep saying it.
I like to encourage people on Steemit and IRL / in real life as much as I can.

I went to the store, bought this blank box and decorated it with a few things so she could have it beside her bed.

I bought the blank box and then picked out the stickers, flowers and whatnot to round out the gift.

She was a longtime school teacher, and also likes flowers.
So to remind her of her past glory days in the teaching profession and also to give her cognitive functioning a boost -- I designed this gift and made it like a school kid would - she was a public school teacher.

its very nice when you help old people and young people, for every this kind moment we live ) I think personally its more pleasure to give kind to people than to receive.
I think it is the right thing to do.
I've been taken advantage of a lot and really hurt and stabbed in the back in a lot of strange ways.... so I cannot and do not help everyone anymore but I do my best to be a decent human being.
Now that is so sweet of you, seen way to many just left in nursing homes with no one to care....Sharing this...

@barrydutton - Such a sweet gesture. The legacy of your visiting the lady's mother is also amazing. Your thoughtful gifts must have meant so much to her but more than that, taking the time to visit is a great thing. One thing I have noticed seniors feel is that no one has any time for them in today's world. They feel ignored and unwanted. Under the circumstances, a visit, a talk and a kind word can do wonders for them. Thanks for taking time to do this. Thanks for sharing it with us. Keep up the good work. Upvoted

You should get some Steemit stickers made and slap them on some wheelchairs!!! Free advertisement. I’m sure those flowers will help liven the place up and bring in some cheer. Those kinds of places always need it.
Honestly, the bright flowers I picked out and that sweet vase, really were quite bright!!!!

The staff jerked me around for 15 mins, on a floor with about 10 bathrooms, seeing my clearly injured and limping self trying to find a bathroom, getting the run around from one staff person to another, it wasted about 20 mins of my visiting time here.
The irony while they marginalized me, for trying to simply use a bathroom.
Did you tell them they have to buy you a pizza first before doing such things to you?
LOL
Maybe next time.
I should have just said -- Look - if I wet myself for you stealing my right to a bathroom, someone is gonna have to clean this up.

I care for the elderly in a nursing home and let me tell you you are one special wonderful person as many are without visitors and crave company above anything else. - The sad thing is they have familys , family that I would say by name and not by nature. It breaks my heart as I love them all as if they are my blood. The way the human condition is meant to be.
