Hidden Evil #Backbiting?
Decaying Souls
We all know that everything decays with time, everything tends to fall if we set em free. Exactly this way, if we set our souls free to room in this cruel world, they will decay towards evil. Prophet Muhammad(Peace be upon him and his family) warned us that the line between good and bad will be erased in the last times(End of this world). This is happening now, the evil has spread everywhere, there is no morality left. In fact, bad has become good and good has now become bad.
"O you who have believed, avoid much [negative] assumption. Indeed, some assumption is sin. And do not spy or backbite each other. Would one of you like to eat the flesh of his brother when dead? You would detest it. And fear Allah ; indeed, Allah is Accepting of repentance and Merciful." (Quran, Surah Al-Hujurat, ayat 12)(49:12)
Hidden Evil(Backbiting)
It links back to the idea of finding purpose behind everything. What could be the purpose behind backbiting? I believe, evil thoughts gets space only when we have some bad intentions, backbiter bites when he/she is jealous by someone's achievements or progress.
Problem Identification
Inside our own selves, there may be a dead or a partially alive conscience which was to protect us from negativity. Continuous ignorance and lack of self accountability damages conscience and the wall of protection against evil weakens. Now, with that weak conscience how can one differentiate between good and bad? one must go back to the unalterable absolute guide to redefine the concepts of good and bad.
"Woe to every slanderer and backbiter. Who collects wealth and [continuously] counts it. He thinks that his wealth will make him immortal. No! He will surely be thrown into the Crusher. And what can make you know what is the Crusher? It is the fire of Allah, [eternally] fueled, which mounts directed at the hearts. Indeed, Hell fire will be closed down upon them, In extended columns."

What's the resistance to the change?
Solution
The person who wants the change must be capable of absorbing all this pressure and must not change his/her position just for the joy of the foolish. There must be hope and self-motivation to stay focused and to acquire consistency. The hope may come from the concept of the day of judgement which is an indigenous source of soul motivation.
