Think dramatic action!

in #life6 years ago

Good books and blogs are generally full of melodrama manipulation, pulling the reader from one moving situation to another.

From page one:

Pull the reader into the plot straight away in your first paragraph:

One of the best ways to do this is, is with dialog. For example:

People shouting, screaming, arguing, crying, declaring a problem, or asking a dire question, etc. And the other person: replying with passion. This dialog naturally sets up the basic circumstances of the plot.

The other thing to bring in action, is to describe action packed scenes. Possible examples:

  • Describe people fighting on board a sailing boat, completely oblivious to a storm brooding and wind stirring and whipping up the sails. This suggests trouble ahead and why were they fighting in the first place?
  • Describe a fast moving car scene and what happened when a man loses control of his car and it careers through the bridge rails and flies through space, before plunging into the river far below. This suggests a possible death and how to would affect the plot. Perhaps an inheritance changes people’s lives?

Leading facts:

Moving from one chapter to another chapter, build up situations that require people to think where this will lead them. How will the characters handle the circumstances?

Then lay a suggestion at the end of each chapter. Thus getting the reader to turn the page to see what will happen in the next chapter?

The END:

  1. In some soft-going romance books people expect their hero and heroine to fall madly in love ever after.
  2. But an adventure book generally has a twist in the story and the end not what anyone would expect, but ends happy ever after anyway.

People expect happy endings. And if it doesn’t end happily, their disappointment will lose trust in that author. “I won’t buy or read any more books by that author again, that’s for sure!”

How does this apply to blogging?

  1. If you think action, you will most probably write action.
  2. And thinking action requires a passionate heart and personality.
  3. To write action you have to imagine how things actually happened, from one physical action to the next. Sometimes with this, (you can laugh if you like), I pull faces to get the expressions right!

I call that living in the moment, so you can write it authentically.

How do you write action?

Manipulate people’s senses and senses by:

  1. Using short words and sentences to create action. Long words require looking up in the dictionary! Long sentences suggest peace and harmony. And if too drawn out, boring!
  2. Leave out unnecessary words or sentences. When the facts come one after the other in quick succession, the eyes and the mind has to assess each fact or action quickly. Thus you build up a series of actions that pulls people into what’s happening. It also builds the desire to know how it is all going to end, in the end. Thus making people continue reading all the way down to the bottom of the blog.
  3. Use of action packed doing words create action. Use words like running, rushing water, waving of arms, gripping hands, etc, those things that people or animals do.
  4. Describe feelings. That includes situations that people have to handle and what they saw. And then, how they reacted to those circumstances. Emotions have a great impact on the senses and soul of the reader

Dear madam, it's always great to see you as a mentor of all the class and your skills are boundless not abiding with only any specific group but you are the master of creativity and teaches us the best way to express our inner beauty to the world.

Dear mam undoubtedly you will make us a good and creative original blogger.

The best part of your post is depend on it's easy to understand suggestions and most importantly the teachings of a teacher.

Thank you mam.

It's fun helping others. But sometimes I wonder, is it really helpful?! Because to some it must seem `hairy-fairy' (just hot-air) to them.
But if you try it out for yourself, you soon see, it really works after all.
And you start looking at other people's books or blogs and wonder if they too know about these simple tricks.

Wow! Writing tricks that are very powerful and very extraordinary. Why did I say that? Examples that you show successfully captivate my imagination to continue reading it. Unfortunately, that is only an example.

It is true, the role of the first paragraph is very decisive to guide the reader to the next paragraphs.

Those examples just popped into my head as I was writing. But It does set one thinking, doesn't it?!
If I had to write on everything that pops into my head, I wouldn't be able to finish all the books I would love to write, ever!

Thanks for sharing dear. Improving my creative skills has been on my mind lately, nut I still do not quite know how. This helped a lot

I think sometimes one has to be a `drama queen' to write exciting stuff on a regular scheduled!

Dear @Artguru ji I think this is the beginning of our tutorial as when you tried to give us the formula of decent starting and correlation the action with shirt doings and emotions it is necessary I think to guide us on every page and finally till the end because it will not only complete the final touch of any writing but it will improve our imagination power and finally it will reflect on our words and writings.

We can't express our emotions how easily we can do blogging after these marvellous ideas but we will be a good writer for sure one day.

The total credit goes to Mother Like our @artguru

God bless you dear mam.

I suppose it's okay to be emotional, if we put it to good use, hey?!
