The concept of human development

The concept of development generally reflects the continuity of development processes that make up all aspects of life. Development always aims to improve the conditions of human societies so as to achieve a level of well-being commensurate with their economic, social and cultural needs and potentials.

Human development expands the educational capacities of individuals and communities, and aims to intensify the efforts of individuals to reach a high level of income, thus transforming societies from consuming to productive societies. Development also develops the capacities of individuals and provides them with better opportunities in all areas of life.

Human development factors

• Political factors: the consolidation of democracy, and the rejection of tyranny.

• Population conditions: To achieve the human development of peoples, the living standards of the population must be raised and a decent life is provided for them.

• Social and class situations: The concepts of work, development, development in the members of society and the achievement of social justice among them must be established.

• Health conditions of society: one of the most important factors of human development, aimed at improving the health conditions of peoples and reducing the number of deaths.

• Economic conditions of the community: This factor refers to raising the economic level of the state by making the most of its available economic resources.

Human Development Index

Is an indicator developed by the United Nations and refers to the level of development achieved by peoples. This indicator is based on measuring the average life expectancy of the citizen, the level of education in the community, and comparing it with the level of illiteracy. It also measures the standard of living of individuals in societies. The first to develop the development index.

Methods of measuring human development

• Measuring human development through the value of GNP per capita, the value is calculated in US dollars and converted to PPP to find the difference between currency rates.

• The average age of individuals. The higher the life expectancy of individuals, the higher the indicators of development in societies, and vice versa.

• The higher the illiteracy rate, the higher the level of education in the community. The higher the development indicators for societies, the higher the illiteracy rate, the poorer the levels of human development.

Human development aspects of peoples

• ECONOMIC ASPECTS Economic progress in countries is one of the most important aspects of development. A country that has achieved good levels of development has higher levels of living, poverty and unemployment.

• Education: Countries that have achieved good levels of development have seen an increase in the number of educated versus illiterate people, and thus the spread of awareness among the population. The educational system in these countries also reflects quality, modernity and the elimination of class differences among the members of society.

• Health: Countries that have achieved levels of development have seen marked improvements in health. Improved food and higher per capita food basket have led to reduced mortality and higher life expectancy.

• Psychological status of individuals: The concept of the psychological state of individuals reflects their level of well-being, and the extent to which social conditions and economic conditions are satisfactory to them, which is one of the most important goals that human development seeks to achieve.
