Shaken by earthquake, buried by landslide and swept by the flood- a ghost town in the border

in #life7 years ago

It’s been 2 years since the 7.8 magnitude earthquake shook Nepal. There were more than 500 aftershocks most destructive being 7.3 magnitudes. More than 9000 people lost their lives and more than 20000 were injured. The epicenter was not far from the Nepal-China border. The story started from that point of time. After the earthquake people gradually started to leave the place as it was very prone to aftershocks.

Once upon a time, this place used to be one of the busy points in the country. 1000s of people used to visit back and forth from Nepal to China every day, mostly the businessman. But now the time has changed. There are only a few people in that area most of them being the policeman and army for the security purpose.

When asked those police man and army said that the huge rocks still fall from the hills without any rainfall or any earthquake. I respect those guys for risking their lives for us just for the security reasons. There has been understanding between the countries hence the main entrance gate has been closed for the time being.

All the infrastructures have been completely destroyed by the natural calamities. The stones now cover the houses where the families used to live. The roads, the bridges, and the communities all destroyed. We can see it from the pictures.

After the devastating earthquake, there was heavy rainfall recently that added to make the scenario worse. There is not a single person residing there now and making it a ghost town. "Only few monkeys come by sometimes," a policeman said. Since the area is really dangerous, one would rarely pass through the area.

Only one question, why would nature be so rude? Hope people get enough power to overcome this unpredicted devastating tragedy. I'll be supporting and helping till my last breathe for those who are in need.
God be with them.

Peace
