Back to hospital for tests.

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Last month I had to go to hospital to see a specialist about problems I'm having with my arms, today I return to have tests done.

For about 18 months or maybe a bit longer I've had problems with my left arm and hand which was put down to me having carpal tunnel which is a nerve in your wrist that becomes compressed. This results in numbness, and tingling, in the thumb, index finger and middle finger, also my finger lock up and I can't bend them. Now things have got worse and also it's effecting my right arm as well. I have a near constant ache in my elbows and I'm getting my other two fingers locking up to go with the tingling and numbness. This is down to another major nerve for your hand which most people will have experienced its effects if you've knocked your 'funny bone.'

I think my arms have realised they're in for an rough day as I've woke up with both elbows aching badly already and my fingers tingling.
While I won't get answers today at least it's another step towards getting them.

Hope they can fix you!

They said if the tests confirm the nerve damage it's just a simple operation to set it right.

I hope you get better soon @alienbutt

Thanks, me too :)

I've got the same thing. Try Voltaren and massaging your wrist.

Thanks I'll try that :)

Forgot to mention, make sure your work area is ergonomic. That's key. If you're not a gamer you can try a sideways/vertical mouse as well.

Oh, that sounds miserable @alienbutt
I usually get that sensation if I've slept wrong but thankfully it's not chronic. Plus with the amount of typing I do, I make sure that my elbows are higher than my wrists as I sit to do any writing/typing/art (it seems to help the circulation to my hands and my wrists rarely hurt). Good luck and I hope the doctors can give you answers.

Thanks, had them zapping my arms with an electric current for 20 minutes so now just got to wait for results of the nerve tests.

Hey, I've got a free option. Take fork - insert into wall outlet. Just be warned: That first zap is a lu-lu. :D

When I worked as an electrician I was ripping out old cables and it was seen as a test to turn the power back on so you got a handful of 240 volts you can't let go of. That was one hell of a shock.
