Do you donate?
Hi,
today I had a moral issue. Someone wanted me to donate for a cause that I don't believe in and I said no. I was directly accused that I don't want to do it. Well I did not care, I don't like to be pushed to do something especially to give something, even if it is for a good cause.
This does not mean that I don't donate, it means only that I like to choose when, where and to whom. I like to do it without publicity. Most when they donate they buy publicity, which for me is a no go.
I like the anonymity of the donation as the receiver shall not feel used but grateful.
I have some friends that belong to a certain religion and they are forced to donate 10% of their income. I find this as a tax. 10% tax for religion. The funds can't bee traced as they are used wisely by the religion leaders. Right....
If you see a poor human being asking for money for food, buy them food and don't give them the money. Like this you know for sure that they are going to eat.
Donate where you can make an impact and avoid big institutions. The bigger the institution is, the inefficient it gets and your money is spent mostly on some useless thing.
So, do you donate? Do you shout it loud so that you get publicity for it? Better asked, how do you do it?
salut, eu nu cred in donati , de ce ? deoarece fiecare dintre noi a trecut prin perioade dificile iar acele perioade ne-au modelat in persoana care suntem astazi, primind o donatie cand eram sarac ar fi rezolvat o problema legata de datoriile care le aveam nu o problema de management si power to earn more, adica fiind sarac te impinge sa evoluezi sa fii persoana care esti destinat sa fii, orice donatie este in sine o piedica in a atinge potentialul personal :D
I am now used to with the euro 🙂. I am donating to my school and I personally don't count my donation , contributions when I do it from myself as it gives me self-actualization/ better feelings. But I expect to be more emotional when I want to donate someone. Sometime people make us emotional/ uncomfortable but logically they don't deserve such direct help

This pretty much encapsulates our political divide between socialism vs capitalism. Socialism want's you to donate by force, you do not get a choice. Capitalism means you are free to decide what to do with your money
socialism produces people that are unable to make decisions, fear of being independent is not a good future for humankind, fear of church is socialism.
it is true that at this time we see socialism in Facebook and other companies that encourage the population not to think, make decisions, control their own life, just because you feel comfortable in socialism doesn't make it a good reason to live a life that has no real meaning.
I support projects and people directly when I encounter and like them or what they are doing. I like donating/supporting the most if I can make a direct impact and in a positive way influence my direct surrounding. Thus, I don't donate to "big causes" or "big foundations" (ok, with the exception of Wikipedia, whose recent fundraiser I supported; after being in Turkey where wikipedia was blocked at the time when I was there last Summer, I got to really know their value first hand; you only miss something that you suddenly can't use)

I very rarely donate, but I do it from time to time.
I donated some money to various charities when the "Tsú" social media site was online.
That website allowed the users to earn money, similarly to the Steem blockchain, except that it was not blockchain based, and the website also allowed the users to donate their earnings to various verified charities within the website.
The minimum payout was $100 USD, and I earned small amounts, so I decided to donate my Tsú earnings to various charities, for example Charity: Water.
I also donated once to an individual. To a homeless person. Not money directly, but I helped him. I bought him a coffee.
After he drinked the coffee, he asked me if I have a computer or not. I said yes, and he gave me a pendrive. I accepted it. I do not remember the capacity of the pendrive, because it was many years ago, but it was working.

I rarely donate for the reasons you mentioned. Most of the money doesn´t arrive where needed but is used to pay overhead, admin and marketing costs. For the large institutions this is more about money making than helping people. Only specific local prjects are worth it.
