I remember a quote from Rabindranath Tagore:
"I slept and dreamt that life was joy. I awoke and saw that life was service. I acted and behold, service was joy"
Even if a boy you help does not grow up to be king, the act of helping brings you joy.
I'm pretty old. At this age we look at life reflectively. What has value? The question occurs. We realize (I realize) the only thing of value is how we have affected others...if we have managed in any way to enrich the life of a person, an animal. Everything else seems insignificant.
