A cabin trip in the woods with the Supermoon
Taking photographs of the moon, even when it is a "Supermoon", can be a challenge to make interesting. After all, it is a quite familiar object that moves in a pretty predictable way most of the time. There were nonetheless plenty of talented photographers who captured it pretty amazingly, and others who humorously substituted in tortillas for it, but that required the right gear combined with the right place and a little bit of creativity.
These were things I was lacking in my first attempt, where I shot a test time lapse sequence of it moving through the sky at my apartment complex in Oslo that turned out to be a bit more boring than I hoped:
So that was a bit disappointing, but I wasn't ready to give up! Night photography has been becoming a new hobby of mine (a good winter hobby in Norway when it gets dark at 3 pm), so when I got my hands on a Sony A5000, it was time to plan a cabin trip to the Norwegian woods.
Norway has a great system for renting out a large network of cabins maintained by the Norwegian Trekking Association, so I got in touch with a couple of willing friends, we located an available cabin about an hour and a half north of Oslo, and we made a quick trip.
The increasingly deep snow as we got off the main road made it a small challenge to locate the cabin, but once we found it, we got a fire going in the stove to warm it up and got settled in. Time to go back outside and play with the cameras.
I wasn't entirely sure we'd get any good views of the moon with the high trees and partly cloudy skies, but to my delight, it began to come up right behind the cabin! This made for some much more interesting photographs and much better time lapse.

If you liked these, be sure to follow and come back tomorrow when I post an awesome video from this trip showing even more of the cabin and snowy winter landscape!
Wow, that looks like it was a fun trip and to watch the Supermoon rising at the same time.
Thanks! It was a really nice trip, and the video I am posting tomorrow will show it even better, so be sure to check it out!
