Giving me what I want

Imagine someone created a government agency with no other function but to hand out (for example) free AR-15s to anyone, just for the asking. I would really love to have an AR-15, but I can't afford one.

So, would I support the existence of this "wonderful" government agency?

Nope. I couldn't support a government agency; even one formed specifically to give me exactly what I want. Even if there were no strings attached, and no hidden agenda or unintended consequences to the recipients.

How can anyone? It's something I just can't wrap my head around.

Even if I believed a "border patrol" or "ICE" were necessary, I would oppose them because they are a government agency. They operate with stolen money-- money taken, at least in part, from people who don't want their "service" and don't want to fund them. That makes their existence unethical regardless of any other consideration. (And there are a lot of other considerations making them bad guys.)

Hand out free AR15s? Sounds too good to be true.

Tax is theft fundamentally, agreed.

...Of all the theft undertaken and redistributed, - securing ones own borders is one of the better allocations of ill gotten gains..?

Ar-15 tax rebate? yaaaay! ... lol

I guess you've stated clearly the right path to follow but there are always people with greed and selflessness to follow the other path

Either way, arms would be necessary for both sides:

For the private citizen to protect themselves and their family or loved ones.
For the government they would want to arm their forces against hostile enemies of the state.

Therefore, the government will never hand you a gun unless you are working for them and against the citizens of their own or another government entity/agency.

Guns might be the topic here, but they are not the answer.

Money is the answer to 99/100 questions.

Governments normally don't get overthrown or even intimidated by the threat of violent force. It creates a pissing match actually.

Back to money.

It's debatable but widely accepted that at one point in his life, Amschel Rothschild said "Give me control of a nations money supply, and I care not who makes it’s laws"

The true power comes from the money supply. The same money supply that is manipulated, debased, and controlled not by your own government, but by a private corporation acting as an agent with no oversight or limitations.

Why? Well, at this point they are shall we say, "Too big to fail" but that's at least where there is a little bit of light at the end of the tunnel if you consider the powers of crypto. I will leave my rant at that for now, but I could probably go on for hours.

Put down the gun, and let me know your thoughts.

Governments arm themselves to coerce their subjects at least as much as they arm themselves against potential invasion by other governments. Governments are not benevolent protectors of the populace. they are organized crime, plain and simple.

Well yeah, duh but that doesn't grant them a get-out-of-jail-free-card
The government still has to put on the show and make it look like they are defending freedoms and protecting its citizens. Everyone will probably agree that the gov is nothing but a big cartel. Get down or lay down. Silver or lead... I'm not sure what you're arguing in defense of... ?

My reaction to a free government AR-15...

If you can't afford an AR-15, you can't afford the taxes to fund AR-15 distribution plus a bureaucracy to administer it.

Same for health care, welfare, and every other government "benefit." We need market choice and competition, not monopolistic bureaucracies funded by theft. Government increases costs, but people ignore the hidden costs when they're told the services are "free."

I can afford an AR-15.
I choose NOT to own one.
Not because I can't afford my taxes either.
As a matter of fact, it is actually your duty as an American to pay as little tax as possible.
I think what you are describing is Socialism.
Bernie fan?

...what? Hell no. I think you may have misunderstood what I wrote.

Money and arms could be raise your daring activities, gives backup confidence. You can not get everything what you desire.
