The World Would Become A Better Place Without Rulers Like The Governor of My State In Nigeria

I hate it when people continuously do wrong things that negatively affect others and get worst, because they find excitement in it and to worsen the scenario; they are supreme so no one can win, even if they are challenged.

One of the worst institution ever invented is government. In developing countries like Nigeria, government officials are synonyms for power and influence misused. In the process of this misuse of power and influence, they hurt others that are less superior to them.

Governments have jeopardize trust the people embed in democracy by refusing to act in the common interest of the majority, persecuting opponents and punishing innocent members of minority groups. Their actions are self interest directed and instead of serving the people that elected them into power, they only became a thorn in the flesh of citizens.

Politics is now a game of do or die affair and a get-rich-quick scheme in my nation, where everyone now seems to have this mindset that; if the opportunity is given to serve in any public office, one must embezzle enough money to maintain the high standard of living that comes with getting into this office after tenure expires. With this, it becomes increasing difficult to know who wants to go and serve the people or who wants to go and enrich his pocket.

With every new government there are high hopes of things becoming better, but it's unfortunate that this hope might never be met by this current system of government.

Kogi State As A Good Scenario

One of the least developed state of my country's 36 states is the Kogi State of which I originated from. The state has been tagged to have always had bad governors that impoverish the people and bring under development to the state.

And after their four bad years of administration, the people are in a hurry to go to their polling unit and vote out the bad government with the hopes of voting in a better new one. Unfortunately, this better new government dream has never been achieved, as my people move from frying pan to fire.

The recent scenario in the state was even different and a bit dramatic; a new government was about to be voted into power and just at the declaration and announcement of the election result, the running and winning governor of the All Progressive Congress party who has just won the election, slumbed and died.

His running mate was expected to use to replace him as they were under same mandate to lead the state, but due to selfish political interest, the federal government got in and give the mandate to a different person entirely who is new to the people and political ambitions unknown.

The Youth In Government

For many years, there have been people advocating for the youths to be actively involved in Nigeria government with the believe that they have a certain mindset that will help them perform well. So the new governor of Kogi state is a 40 year old who made history of being the youngest governor in Nigeria political history and the first governor in office that wasn't elected by the people.

This was supposed to translate to better performance by the young fellow, but hell no, he's the worst ruler Kogi state ever had. He started by sacking majority of the civil workers in the state hiding under the canopy of screening and cleaning the system. He then refuses to pay salary to the remaining workers he didn't sack, owning the majority of workers several months of salary.

He's living a flamboyant lifestyle with the monthly allocation he gets from the federal government to pay worker's salary. His major concerns are buying tons of cars for himself and his administrators and organizing birthday parties here and there while the people are in pain, agony and hunger.

Anyone below him that tries to advocate against his rulership, he takes out of the way quick because he doesn't want anything to ruin his fun.

I see this and I hate the government system more and want to die a libertarian advocating for anarchism. People should not be ruled by other people like them who force choice and actions either directly or indirectly. We came into this world free, with our own life lead by our choices so everyone deserves freedom and be free of dictators and rulers that afflict people.

Sort:

Do you think it is only in your state? The menace is hovering over the country herself because we need checks and balancing scheme like one obtainable on the blockchain.

Very true
It hovers around the country generally
Unfortunately, the case of Kogi is really troubling as the Governor has abuse the priviledge and opportunity for a Young leader which has been the clamour for sometime.
What becomes the fate of aspiring young fellows for leadership position with great projects and potentials?

Let me ask you these, do you really think they are comfortable watching us rule them? And besides what will be their gain of the democracy if they put youth on the path?

Yeah, I agree bro @mediahousent that bad government has already overwhlemed the whole Nigeria nation, and as @mickyscofield said, Kogi State cas is critical and needs urgent attention which no one is ready to give.

You both arguement is the reason why I want to remain a libertarian and support the ideology of free society, I mean we don't really need government or rulers as much as we thought we need them. Both youth and old in government, I see un-necessary for human freedom.

A libertarian position, hmm, you main the decentralization?

👍👍👍👍👍👍👍. You are right bro

Wow... I never knew you are from my state. The state needs a special attention right now. It's getting too much. At least, immunity should be lifted from governors and let justice come back again.

Yeah, I support that too bro, every man should be equally responsible to face the wrath of the law each time they break it no matter who they.

Thanks, glad to know you're from Kogi State too and please what part of the state?

I'm from Egbe, yagba west...
What about you?
