Every year libertarians post a bunch of Killdozer memes, and every year, I implore them to cut it the f*** out.

Marvin Heemeyer was an absolute paranoid lunatic whose own friends could and would not corroborate his claims about being mistreated by the local government, and his most central complaint really just comes down to him wanting to build a shop in the middle of nowhere but wanting local taxpayers to cover the cost of running utilities hundreds of feet out to it instead of just paying for it himself.

He's not a hero. He's a nut, and he actively tried to kill a number of people both with the bulldozer itself and with a mounted 50-cal. gun, which he used to shoot at cops.

People who have turned him into some kind of mythological folk hero often like to claim that he didn't actually hurt anyone, and they use that fact to justify seeing him as a man who was just targeting legitimate "enemies".

But he only failed to kill people through incompetence, not a lack of trying.

His range of motion and visibility out of the bulldozer was extremely limited. Cops were able to hide behind some concrete barricades and avoid being killed while he shot at them -- but he was absolutely shooting to kill. Likewise, he was ultimately stopped because he tried to bulldoze a local library / city building, which was being used as a daycare at the time. He didn't realize that it had a basement, and the weight of the bulldozer was greater than the floor could support, leaving him stuck.

Prior to that point, he'd destroyed his neighbor's shop (another person with whom he had an unfounded beef), multiple private homes including one belonging to the Mayor's (iirc) mom, lots of cars, and city buildings.

Point being:

1. He isn't a hero, so stop making him into one. And...
2. For the love of god, all of you who do this set back libertarians' ability to persuade anyone that our ideas are serious.
   Don't turn villains into martyrs.
