RE: Storms Stole The Sand

in #lessbeach5 years ago

We've got the opposite thing going on here, the pebbles are disappearing into the sea and the sand is being revealed. 😂

That would be OK but it's only the seaside end of the beach so there's a sort of 20 foot drop off in the middle of the beach now.

Soon they will bring in the JCBs. Always fun to watch when in need of so entertainment. 😊

More sand and fewer pebbles sounds good! Is the water slowly claiming the land where you are?

No. Not here. There's too much city going on. It has had groynes for ages, probably since the Prince came to take the waters" so it's been protected.

Further along the coast is a completely different story though. Places like Burling Gap have changed dramatically in the time we've lived here. The cafe we used to go to had to be demolished and there used to be about 20 feet of cliff in front of it.

Also, 3 of the coast guards cottages have gone.

The National Trust took it over and expected to have it for about 6 years but now they're saying they will be lucky if it lasts 2.

It's well worth a visit as they have a load of interesting photos and stuff.

We've also gots loads of photos of us there on land that it is now more.
