ML18: media larp 2018 spring season results

Some things go absolutely nowhere. However, science continues on best when nobody notices science going on. To design an experiment to determine an answer to a question requires a grandiose game.

Back in March, i began a media larp. This live action role play was set up to analyze alternative media in terms of merit, based upon both educational and entertainment value. I used several posts to describe the contestants, who were selected from the pool of media that i was aware of at the time.

The criteria of evaluation included two systems, one of merit, the other of demerit. When a source dropped off my radar screen, i dropped them from the game. The key feature that i was looking to discern was to identify who could stay on issues, rather than descend into the cult of personality.

As a seeker of truth, for its own sake, i also have an interest in developing non intrusive measurement techniques that can be used as performance indicators. A raw count of you tube followers would be an unfair metric, but using growth based on fibonacci status converts everything to apples on an equivalent basis.

The merit criteria used eight different tools. The first was eagerness of viewership ... how excited was i to see a new video. Next, how much active participation does the show require - interactivity increases desire to watch, read, or listen in any media.

I looked at the accuracy of the knowledge base, compared to what i already thought i knew, plus the meta-data available. The willingness to analyze and speculate was deemed better than just being a news reader. Believability registered hard, stories that got too far out there were left out there, untethered.

The quality of interview and treatment of guests was very important. I served as a guest and i was never impressed by an impolite host. Closeness to my personal reality was important, because i live in my own creation, beyond current concepts of space and time. The quality of show production should be the primary focus.

On the demerit side, i cringe when the focus shifts to people and not concepts and issues. If you tell me what i have to do, or try to sell me an advertiser's product, you set off my don't go there alarms. When you tell me i have to believe your speculation rather than consider it, you have blunted your approach.

Openness is a good thing, a smile and a soft voice rate higher than angry screaming matches. While i love a good debate, the host must bend over backwards toward providing a fair, level playing field. Always needing to have the last word is pushy.

The talent on stage should make a connection with me, the viewer. This can be an expression of shared values. Using we, when i dont agree, is offensive. Discredited info or shoddy research is a total turn-off ... if i can no longer believe in you, i will not watch.

The playoffs will include the eight alt media sites that were my personal favorites based upon the scoring criteria provided above. For the playoffs, i need to bring you the reader of this blog into active game participation. I would like to hear your comment on how each of these media artists rank on your criteria, or on your perception of my criteria. I will do a post on each player and offer them a live one hour interview on steempunk radio.

The know weigh radio show is at noon eastern time, monday thru friday on steempunk radio. Dr. Lenny Thyme is the scientist/host who is aware, awake and both above and below the current orders of life. The regular listeners and readers know him by now, newbies will catch on soon.

The eight alt media winners - the leading the voices of the truther game, going into the playoffs are 1) crrow777 with jason lundgren 2) really graceful 3) quite frankly 4) x22 report (spotlight included) 5) truthstream media 6) you are free tv 7) revolution radio and 8) the vinny eastwood show.

Please contact me through any channel, steemit, discord, skype, phone, etc. to set up the interview. If you are not on the list, but in the alt media, there is a lot of talent out there that did not make the cut. Feel free to vote by making comment on any post bearing the title ML18
