16 + 33 = Lego!
16+, the box said. I pondered the math...16 plus what? I wondered. Damn it Lego, explain yourself better, I thought with consternation - Why make it so bloody hard!
I began to count on my fingers... Could it be? Could the math actually work? 16...Plus...33? It seemed too good to be true, but even as part of my mind pondered the equation the emotional section, by far the most dominant of the grey-matter within my noggin, began to ramp up the excitement level...Yes, 16 + 33 = 49...The exact age of yours truly...The emotional section of my brain started to smile broadly...Yep, I love it when a plan comes together, began to echo around the void within my noggin...Finally being 49 was paying dividends!
I love Lego, always have. To my embarrassment though, I've been Legoless for many years. I know, shame on me.
Today my wife and I were out and about running errands, a little shopping and on the hunt for a new bed and mattress, one of those Chiropractic-approved ones that will accommodate my old bones a little better. I was just about to die of boredom when I spied a Toyworld across the carpark from the bed shop...Naturally I wanted to go in and dragged Faith along on under the premise we were looking for stuff for @smallsteps. Little did she know that I had, sneakily, deployed a cunning plan hatched within the recess of my noggin during the mind-numbing sales-pitch from the bed guy. Brilliant!
I was actually going there to look for Lego and not stuff for @smallsteps, although we bought her something anyway.
I made a show of looking for dinosaur stuff for my niece then put in an Oscar-winning performance for Faith when I made a show of 'discovering' they had Lego there. She, because she's not a dunce, knew exactly what I had done - Got her to the Lego-section under false-pretences - However she rolled with it knowing how much I've been longing for some Lego.
I saw this Beetle and a Kombi van then the Millennium Falcon from Star Wars...I'd like to tell you how cool I played it...But I can't. I was like a kid in a candy store...A Lego store to be exact I guess.
Anyway, I decided to get the Beetle. That's right, no longer is this 16+33 year-old Legoless and I couldn't be more pleased...Well, I guess I could if I got the Kombi and the Millennium Falcon as well! I'm not greedy though.
My plan is to make the Beetle, then break it up again and either sell it off or give it to someone else. I initially thought my nephew but he's only a little baby of 18 months so I might sell it off to someone and go buy another to complete - The Kombi maybe. We'll see.
I'm pretty excited to get started and I'm sure I'll do a post along the way. All I ask is that if it doesn't quite look exactly like the picture on the box you'll be understanding...I'm 16 + 33 after all...Not as sharp as I used to be. 😉

@brickmanbrad runs contests from time to time. My Henry entered his Siege of Stalingrad in the last one. Fingers crossed for a win.

Thanks for the shout out Matt. I'll be in touch tomorrow on discord and we can work out Henry's prize.
I've read a few books on the siege (battle) of Stalingrad...Fascinating. Sound like brickmanbrad chooses legit topics for Lego-builds. I couldn't mix it in those circles mate, I'm just a follow-the-instructions novice. Henry put together a legit entry though. Good luck.
huh, might check brickmans site out
Henry won, so he's pretty excited :)
Go Henry!

So what's the significance of the 33? Nice Lego set👍.

Lego set is a 16+ set meaning 16 years old +. 16 + 33 = 49...My age...Just some convenient numbers to entertain myself with and make my post-title more interesting. I could have called it I got Lego like some other numbskull would have, but I'm a little more creative than that.

Very good 👍

Is there a market for them? Guessing buying a second hand one means trusting all the pieces are there :)
It cost $169 and I'm sure someone will pay something for it. If it's all together as a built-model they'll be able to determine the parts are there. If not then landfill can have it. I'd have got my money's worth from it by then.
Lol, as if I'd throw it out 🤣

I LOVE Legos! I've never seen the Beetle, and now I'm jealous and want to get one for myself... Hmmm. Time to go shopping.
How bloody good is Lego?!
I am having so much fun! I don't want to go to work tomorrow! I wanna build Lego!
The Beetle is cool. I had a Beetle for my first car, proudly bought that piece of shit with my own money at 16, so I figured it was a good piece to build. I think I'll get the Kombi van next.
Jelly AF huh? Go get yourself some and join the revolution!
