Lead by Example

in #leadership7 years ago

There's an old saying about the difference between a manager and a leader: "Managers do things right. Leaders do the right things." (It's best to be both a manager and a leader – they're just different processes.)

As a leader, part of your job is to inspire the people around you to push themselves – – to greatness. To do this, you must show them the way by doing it yourself.

It is easy to just focus on ourselves and at times, we may slack off, be de-motivated, have a few beers after a hard days work.. but are we just letting ourselves down? or is it much more than that??

We may not realize this, but a lot of times we inspire others, workmates, colleagues, the stranger at the gym etc..

So in life, it is not ourselves that we should only focus on, but realize our actions affect so many more people without us realizing!!!!

Totally agree. I was a head chef of a fine dining steakhouse for 4 years, & I always used to have a similar saying, "there's a huge difference between a boss & a leader." You should never ask anyone to do anything you aren't willing to do yourself. There's not many head chef's you will find in the dish-pit helping wash dishes.
