What happens the day the last bitcoin is mined?

I would like to know
What happens the day
the last bitcoin is mined
will all the miners go away
will transactions be slow

what does mining do
I only know of rewards
when blocks get solved
handed out to the lords
with rigs big and new
I am a noob
By then miners should be able to make sufficient profit through transaction fees. The hope is that the price by then will be sufficiently high to support this.
