Africa #15: Cape of Good Hope + Penguins 🐧

We left Hermanus in the afternoon and headed to Cape Town via Bettys Bay because this road leads along the ocean.

You can find several spots to watch the beautiful sunset.

The first night we decided to stay in Simon’s Town, a suburb of Cape Town where you can see penguins. We chose the Simon’s Town Boutique Backpackers, a really good, affordable hostel, nice and clean. The next morning we did a short stop at the Boulders Penguin Colony where you can see a lot of penguins.

From Simon’s Town you are at the Cape of Good Hope in no time. Though it is quite expensive to enter (145 Rand, about 13 $), this one is a MUST. The view from Cape Point is simply stunning. But have a look for yourself:

You should also walk down the stairs to the Diaz Beach. This is the beach where the Dutch arrived in South Africa for the first time! The beach is one of the most beautiful in South Africa. The white sand, the turquois color of the water and the wild waves of the Atlantic Ocean – a dream come true.
