Thanks @riverflows, I'm not sure how it works in case of frequency of appearance on northern and southern hemisphere, but it's true that Aurora in general is more associated with the northern one... Btw, how was your observation?
It was in the early 90s.. maybe 1993!!! Big green red and orange sheets of colour over the sea where we used to surf. Have not seen it here since!
