Four seasons - one forest
With my first season project now hanging on my wall in the entrance of the house it was time to start collating shots for the next one.
For this project I had to choose a location that was easily acessible when the conditions are right and also photogenic enough to offer enough of a variety of compositions as the seasons progress. Luckily I live on the edge of a fairly substantial woodland – Hereward Forest, more commonly known as Bourne Woods, which ticks all the boxes.
The forest is many hundreds of years old and is home to a carpet of bluebells in spring, ferns and brackens in autumn and on cold winter days there is often frost or a little mist that catches the strong, slanting light between the ancient pines. In summer, the leafy canopy on the west side of the forest is flooded with golden tones as the sun fades in the evening. With all that to see I visit regularly throughout the year, sometimes just for a walk with the kids and sometimes with more of a plan to capture what I see.
