what a thing
these lines
of ochre red
of charcoal black
scraped on stone
indented in clay
thoughts kept
on hides of beast
on beaten reeds
gifts of the earth
the new cave
is no cave at all
cave dwellers
no longer
I wrote this poem for for @damianjayclay and @nikisteem’s Kudos Short Poem Contest with much prodding from @bex-dx and @tinypaleokitchen (thank you both for the push!) We were joking about poetry and how it isn't suitable for cavemen. They said I was wrong.
It's wonderful to read all this lovely poetry, even if I am a caveman at heart.
As an art organizer and co-founder of a collective, we have had two special exhibitions in the past two years we call, Ekphrasis. We collaborate writers and poets to write about a visual work of art from visual artists. You touched on this in a pretty awesome way!
