Gyeongju-One of the most historical cities in South Korea

in #kr7 years ago (edited)

Gyeongju is known as one of the most historical cities in South Korea, it's in the North Gyeongsang Province, not so close to Seoul but if you're in Korea you should definitely visit this beautiful city :)
I went there from Daegu by bus, it was a short journey, took only one hour and the ticket was $5 as I remember :)
When you get off the bus there is an information centre for tourists in the coach station so you can get information about the city from there easily. You can also get maps and guidebooks for free :)
Gyeongju has a distinctive atmosphere with its streets and architecture, seeing people walking in the historical streets of Gyeongju with hanboks(Korean traditional dresses) made me feel like I went back in time :D

So, where to visit in Gyeongju?

The place I visited first was Cheomseongdae Observatory(경주 첨성대)

It is the oldest existing astronomical observatory in Asia.

It stands 9.17m and was used for observing the stars in order to forecast the weather.

The area surrounding Cheomseongdae is also so nice :)
The weather was quite good the day I went there~
