Lazily Easing into Keto

In a previous post (https://steemit.com/keto/@flountown/introduction-to-the-keto-diet) I gave a brief intro to the ketogenic diet, in this post I want to let people know how easy it can be to really get started.


Starting a new diet or lifestyle can be hard, and often times getting over that mental hump can be intimidating.  You can find so many great, ambitious keto recipes on the internet, but I want to focus on the opposite end of that spectrum.  The easiest and laziest way possible to get started with no excuses whatsoever.  I’ll even have some tips for those who travel a lot in my next post.  It’s possible to eat keto wherever you may be resting your head at night.


First, buy coconut oil and some Kerry Irish Gold butter.  These ingredients are key for making bulletproof coffee and adding a dose of fat to any meal.  Next, go buy some precooked bacon and 2 dozen eggs.  Next, gotta get your veggies in, stop in the freezer section and get those frozen broccoli, cauliflower, or green beans steamer bags.  If you like mexican food, go buy some ground beef, a taco/burrito seasoning packet and some sour cream.
Now, for the meals with this kind of stuff, bacon and eggs at any time of the day is always a great call.  Everyone should know how to scramble an egg and operate a microwave.  Not going to lie, I’ve eaten a dozen eggs in a day before, along with half a pack of bacon.  I’m living the dream.

For a bit more creativity, let’s move on to that ground beef, I hope you didn’t buy the lean stuff, this is keto.  Brown that up in a pan, add taco seasoning (most packets I’ve found tend to be 4-6g of carbs per serving) then mix in some sour cream.  Mexican Keto!  You should probably eat a bag of those veggies at some point, steam them, then add salt and butter, but that's not as exciting as bacon, eggs or Mexican keto.

Need dessert?  Well you could make some of the great fat bomb style ice creams, or there’s some delicious keto cheesecake recipes out there, but that’s too much work.  If you haven’t heard of Halo Top Ice Cream yet, you are welcome.  Macros of a protein bar, and if you’ve been eating bacon and eggs all day, then you have plenty of room for the 4-8g of carbs that the different flavors may have.  I am actually eating some Halo Top right now, that's why I chose the chocolate chip cookie dough image.

When it comes to Type 2 diabetes, the ketogenic diet has an amazing effect. By lowering the amount of glucose in the blood, it lowers the reliance on insulin.
