Keto While Traveling

In my last posts I covered a basic intro to the keto diet followed by the dead simple easiest steps to start eating keto.


In this one I want to discuss another excuse i see from a lot of people.  I can’t change my diet because I eat out all the time while traveling for work.  This is a load of crap.  I was traveling 3.5 weeks a month and still crushing the keto weight loss.  You just have to be smart about where you go and ask to make modifications to your order.


Bunless Burger w/ Side Salad Instead of Fries
By far the easiest way to accomplish keto on the go is to order burgers without the bun and sub a side salad, Caesar is my preference, instead of fries.

Eat a Steak
This is the simplest and tastiest way to go keto on the go.  Ribeye steak might be proof that there is a god and he/she/it/xim/xer (was that enough pronouns for politcal correctness?) loves us.  If you order a temp past medium rare, though, we probably can't be friends.

Eat a Salad
Just make sure the dressing isn’t some sugary hopped up mess.  Most chain restaurants unfortunately find some way to hide sugar in everything.  Easiest route is to go Caesar salad, or simply use oil and vinegar. This is also not as tasty IMO as the two previous options.  I refuse to post a picture for this one, salads are boring.

Find Options/Modifications at Common Eateries - 3 Specific Suggestions
Panera - Power Steak and Lettuce Wraps - Panera has a secret non bread heavy menu that most people don’t know about.  The Power Steak and Lettuce wraps are my preferred lunch option.
Chipotle - Burrito Bowl w/Fajita Veggies - Choose the bowl option and pass on the rice/beans.  Ask for a base of fajita veggies and then add meat, sour cream and guac to your heart’s content.
Whole Foods - Paleo Salad Bar/Buffet Section - I’ve eaten here for lunch twice this week and a lot of their Paleo options are delicious and fit into a ketogenic diet.  Don’t forget to load up on some cruciferous veggies while your at it.  Below is a pic of my lunch from Friday.
