I like your question about what truly matters, as I have pondered the same question over an over when confronted with life changing events. I think life itself matters most, then I think knowledge comes soon after.

If all my basic needs were met without the need to actually work, I asked myself what would I then do. And the answer would be I would like to transfer my knowledge (teach) and I would like to learn.
