(JP/ENG) マレーシアのペナン島に滞在 ～ Trip to Penang , Malaysia

皆さん、こんにちは。今日は数年前に旅行したマレーシアのペナン島のことを書こうと思います。ペナン島はマレー半島沖のマラッカ海峡に浮かぶ島です。
メルボルンからクアラルンプール(KL) まで飛行機で8時間半。KLで数日滞在し、バスでペナンまで移動しました。KLからペナンまでの距離は356.8km、バスで3時間55分かかります。
Hi, Steemians. We went on a holiday to Penang island, Malaysia a couple years ago.
Penang is a Malaysian state located on the northwest coast of Peninsular Malaysia, by the Malacca Strait.
We flew up from Melbourne to KL by a direct flight, flight time was 8.5 hours. We stayed in KL for a week and took a bus to head over to Penang, it was 3 hours and 55 minutes, a long trip from KL to Penang.

ペナン島は「東洋の真珠 (The Pearl of The Orient)」と呼ばれ、マレーシア随一の観光地で、世界中から観光客が訪れます。
特にUAE (アラブ首長国連邦) からの観光客が多かったような気がします。日本人観光客も見かけました。
オーストラリアから比較的近いので、オージーの観光客もたくさんいました。ホテルで、｢グッダイ・マイト！(Gooday mate!)｣ とスタッフに挨拶しているオージーのお客さんがいて、思わずクスッと笑ってしまったくらいです。
Penang is one of the most-visited states in Malaysia. Known also as the Pearl Of The Orient.
We came across the tourists who came from all over the world, especially young families who visited from UAE. Many Australians and Japanese tourists were enjoying holidays, too. We heard Aussie English that was quite familiar to us everywhere in Penang.

ペナンの住民は圧倒的に中国人(華人)が多く、次いでマレー人、インド系タミル人が多いです。ペナンの中国人は桁違いのお金持ちが多く、日本円で2億～3億円する一軒家を所有しています。またペナンの人達は教育レベルも高いと言われていて、この10年間で目覚しく経済が発展したそうです。
多民族の島ではイスラム教、仏教、道教、ヒンドゥー教、カトリックなど多様な宗教施設を見ることができます。
私も多民族の国の住んでいるせいか、同じような多民族の国の文化、習慣、生活などにとても興味が湧きます。
The population of Penang consists of various ethnic groups, the predominant ones being the Malays, Chinese and Indians in the island.
The population of 1.75 million people has been enjoying a time of economic growth in the past decades and they are relatively well-educated.
The island has a multi-cultural society. Chinese Buddhism is a main religion and all the Malaysian Malay people are Muslim by law. I currently live in Australia, a country of immigrants. I am keen to get to know people, culture, customs and religion of other multi-cultural countries.

私たちはペナンで人気の観光地バトゥ・フェリンギ (Batu Ferringhi) というビーチ沿いのホテルに滞在しました。ここから見る夕日はとても綺麗で、ずっと見ていたいくらいでした。
We stayed in Batu Ferringhi where is most famous stretch of beach in Penang. We chilled out and enjoyed local food at a Hawker food market (a food stall) during our stay in Penang.

Ate it at Hawker food market. It was MYR12.0, equals 330yen and AUD4.0

ちなみに、マレーシアの通貨(リンギット・MYR) の価値は、オーストラリアドルの三分の一です。また日本円はリンギットの3.8倍の価値があります。
オーストラリアのレストランの食事は、マレーシアのレストランの食事より約2.3倍高いそうです。
AUD is three times stronger than MYR so far. In facts, restaurant prices in Australia are 232% higher and groceries prices in Australia are 60.1% higher than in Malaysia. LOL

ペナンはまたいつか訪れたいと思う場所でした。
We had an amazing time in Penang island. It is definitely worth visiting again!
