sigh I haven't been to Japan since 1982. It was a good 3 years that I spent there as a young Marine. I learned quite a bit of the language and culture, but I wish I had done sooooooo much more! Thanks for bringing up fond memories.
I went there in 1988, so we probably saw a somewhat similar Japan. I stayed until 2005 (ya, 17 years!). Sometimes when I remember my times there, I do exactly the same thing .... sigh.
I was not born by 1988. That was such a long time.
