Japan Is Amazing - Bitcoin At Nicigas Tokyo

You never know what you will find walking around Tokyo. For instance, I was on my way to a meeting the other day when I happened to spot the bitcoin logo on this storefront.

The company hosting the ATM is called NiciGas. A large natural gas supplier in Japan.

Unfortunately I was in a hurry so I couldn't go inside to inspect the ATM, but I did some further research online about NiciGas. In October 2016 they launched their "pay by bitcoin service" to pay your gas bill. What's more interesting is their first bitcoin customer was an 80-year-old man from Saitama named Mr. Endo. I think most people associate bitcoin with younger, more tech-savvy​ people, but this gentleman​ shows us that bitcoin, it's not just for the kids.

I don't know if the ATM is still operating, but if it is and you are crazy enough to want to cash out some BTC for yen when you are in Tokyo you can stop by NiciGas. It's a few blocks from Shinjuku station. NICIGAS 4 Chome-31 Yoyogi, Shibuya-ku, Tōkyō-to 151-0053
