Continuiamo la visita virtuale del parco con i:

Cinghiali

Nel loro recinto saranno stati almeno una decina, un forte odore selvaggio li caratterizzava, molto simile a quello dei loro parenti i maiali. Sono animali solitamente notturni ma durante la nostra visita erano belli svegli vagando pacifici nel loro spazio alla ricerca di cibo.

All'interno della recinzione vi si trovavano alcuni piccoli che quando si avvicinavano troppo alla recinzioni venivano subito soccorsi dalla madre per proteggerli e si allontanavano immediatamente mentre lei veniva verso di noi quasi sfidandoci.

Ad un certo punto hanno sentito un rumore di un trattore e sono corsi in branco verso l'entrata, abbiamo supposto che avessero scambiato quel suono per quello dell'arrivo della loro cena perché si sono fermati all'entrata principale per alcuni minuti per poi pochi minuti dopo disperdersi nuovamente alla ricerca di cibo.

Abbiamo assistito a qualche tenera scena come quando un'esemplare adulto si è strusciato su degli alberi e per terra, comportamento che non ci saremmo mai aspettati da questo tipo di animale. Si poteva essere tentati dall'accarezzarli ma un cartello ti scoraggiava dal farlo:

Che ne dite? Lo definirei abbastanza chiaro e scritto in ben tre lingue tanto per andare sul sicuro...

Un piacevole incontro con uno degli animali tanto temuto dall'uomo e davvero difficile da incontrare faccia a faccia durante una qualsiasi escursione... e aggiungerei per fortuna!

Curiosità

Animali poco socievoli ed ostili nel loro habitat naturale con gli avversari ma tra i loro simili si trovano a meraviglia vivendo in branco, frequentatori dei boschi, molto resistenti e facilmente adattabili a qualsiasi ambiente si trovino.

Gli esemplari adulti delle Alpi Italiane arrivano a misurare fino ad 1,80 metri di lunghezza e possono pesare tra i 100 e i 200 kg.

La coda può arrivare a misurare 40 cm. che agita quando è infastidito o irritato gli torna comodo per scacciare le mosche attratte dal loro forte odore.

I sensi più affinati sono l'udito e l'olfatto, mentre la vista è punto di debolezza.

Le zanne o canini inferiori possono raggiungere fino a 30 cm. di lunghezza e li mantengono sempre affilati.

Cambiano il colore del manto da invernale ad estivo che si trasforma da scuro a chiaro.

Onnivori, si cibano di frutti, bacche, tuberi, radici e funghi ma non disdegnano a volte di cibarsi di invertebrati, uova, carne e pesce.

Preda ambita per la sua carne, tenace nonché rispettabile avversario in combattimento, nel corso del XX secolo ha cessato di essere fonte di alimentazione primaria per l'uomo, sostituiti dai loro discendenti domestici, i maiali.

Boars

There must have been at least a dozen in their enclosure, a strong wild smell characterizing them, much like they relatives pigs. They are usually nocturnal animals but during our visit they were beautiful awake wandering peacefully in their space in search of food.

Inside the enclosure there were some little ones who, when they were too close to the fences, were immediately rescued by their mother to protect them and they immediately went away while she came towards us almost challenging us.

At one point they heard a tractor noise and ran into the pack towards the entrance, we assumed that they had exchanged that sound for the arrival of their dinner because they stopped at the main entrance for a few minutes and then a few minutes later they went back again in search of food.

We have witnessed some tender scenes like when an adult scraping on trees and ground, a behavior that we would we never have expected from this type of animal. You could be tempted to caress them but a sign discouraged you from doing it:

A pleasant meeting with one of the animals so feared by man and really difficult to meet face to face during any excursion... and I would say thankfully!

Curiosity
