Placenta and schizophrenia
According to a recent research published in Nature, the insurgency of complications related to the placenta in the gestation period could predispose the fetuses to develop schizophrenia.

It has long been believed that disorders such as schizophrenia, dyslexia, Tourette's syndrome, are more pronounced in subjects who have been subjected to states of suffering and stress of different kinds during prenatal development,. The hypothesis, therefore, foresaw that problems in the neurological development of the fetus were directly linked to pathologies of this type. This new research seems now to show that, especially in subjects already genetically predisposed to these diseases, states of fetal distress could have more bad effects, further complicating the clinical picture.
The problem of the Great Barrier Reef
The Great Barrier Reef of Australia was about to disappear five times in the last 30,000 years. The reasons is the raising and lowering of the sea level, due to the long periods of glaciation of the Earth.

This is what emerges from a new study, which highlights how the corals in the past failed to adapt quickly enough to the changes in the environment in which they lived. In particular, the lowering of the seas has exposed them too quickly to the air, while in the process of the sea raising were deposited large amounts of debris on corals, which have almost completely disappeared. Today the rise in global temperatures has already caused the death of much of the Australian coral reef, and the future could be dramatic. This is why it is fundamental to understand how corals have responded to climate change in the past.
How to find fossils on Mars
New research suggests that the fossils of the hypothetical life forms that appeared on Mars billions of years ago could be more easily found in the clay rocks rich in iron and silica.

Four billion years ago, Mars was rich in liquid water, and probably had a suitable climate to sustain bacterial life. The rocks that were formed at that time are still well preserved in some sites of the Red Planet, because on Mars there is no geological activity for a long time. This new research will help the next robotic missions on the surface of Mars, starting with the European ExoMars mission, which will start in 2020.

Placenta e schizofrenia

Dove cercare i fossili su Marte
