Competition should be embraced not run from. Facebook did not go out of business when twitter was invented and Steemit is not going anywhere now that people are forking it. How many forks of Bitcoin are there? I know the most famous fork of Bitcoin is Namecoin. Did Namecoin eat Bitcoins marketcap? No....
Absolutely! Also, after the hard-fork, they're bound to include some innovations of their own, and it will be interesting to see if they're better than what steemit has.
The same goes to Vk.com which is russian version of Facebook.com
What innovation ever came from Vk.com? I think Vk.com cloning Facebook is the scenario that scared them into accepting a licensing agreement.

Sorry the translated version of that isn't very readable. Can you just name a few major innovations that came from Vk.com? From my perspective they've always just been a lesser copycat of Facebook. I really am curious as to what they've added.
My only experience was setting up an API for logging in to a site using the Vk.com identity for our Russian users at a company I worked at. It was a couple years ago but everything about the site seemed like an outdated ripoff of Facebook. IMHO.
