As you noted with your dividend math, SP yields an incredible amount right now. The return is so high that even with substantial depreciation of the purchase price, one can expect to profit from Steem if they hold.

There are strong incentives both to hold and to cash out, given the rate of "dividends". I expect we'll start seeing much greater price volatility soon.
