Few weeks back, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, made headlines when he asserted in his own words "I'm interested in learning more about decentralization and how to put the power back into people's hands."
Recently however, news trending all over the media and social networks is that Facebook is placing a ban on cryptocurrency adds. This news for me is a strategic plan by facebook to add its own FUD in the already strained market so they can buy up like Top Bank CEO's had tried in the past.

Well, according to Gareth Jenkinson of Cointelegraph, "Ranging Reactions to Facebook Cryptocurrency Ad Ban"

Facebook users will no longer be bombarded by cryptocurrency, initial coin offering and Bitcoin adverts on the social media platform.
The company has instituted an all-out ban on cryptocurrency, ICO or Bitcoin adverts - citing “financial products and services frequently associated with misleading or deceptive promotional practices."
Unfortunately, legitimate financial service providers will also be painted with the same brush- which effectively rules out any advertising of cryptocurrencies or related products on Facebook.
Adverts failing to comply will be banned from Facebook, and its partner platform Instagram as well as its advertising platform Audience Network.
Facebook’s advertising tech director Rob Leathern said the ban was ‘intentionally broad’ in an effort to weed out ‘deceptive and misleading’ advertising.

Interestingly, there has been reactions to this news across Social media .

Social media reacts
As per usual, a gander at social media timelines provides some interesting reading- with varying opinions on the latest development in the cryptocurrency space.

Facebook’s advertising move was met with varying degrees of skepticism on Twitter.

Twitter user Armin van Bitcoin took a subtle dig at Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, who recently made positive comments about Blockchain technology:

Why I feel this unnecessary Ban has no side effect on growth of Steem & Other Cryptocurrencies

-Steem et al are decentralized in nature with disruptive technology and already with a global reach, so this ban will have no effect as the sensitization of the positive effects of decentralized blockchain technology has already spread.

  • Large volume of trade and investments- Already huge volume of trades are already onging with very high market capitalization in hundreds of billions withing few years with Bitcoin leading the pack with $171,817,676,735 according to Coinmarketcap So folks who invested in these coins will be all out to protect their investments against centralized capitalists entity like Facebook.

  • Source of income- Social media outfits like Facebook & Instagram has been a source of time wasting and gossips with so many form of hate speeches and serious abuses like stalking and bullying and stealing of peoples personal info and details. However, blockchain tech with Steemit leading the way has provided a great source of income for many folks around the world who benefits a lot both in monetary rewards, fun and educational as such, Facebook is already having FUD that in the near future, they shall loose total grip of the social media world as steem is taking over which is why they are trying to fight back.

  • Community support-Facebook & Instagram do not have community love & support leading to many folks using their platform to preach in favor of Steemit and other Cryptocurrencies like BTC, EOS, Ethereum, Elyte (www.elyte.io) et al, this has lead to sharp decline of user activities and rip off from Facebook as such they are trying to fight back, however, success in cryptocurrency comes mainly from strong community backing and support which is why they always come out stronger after various attacks from Government, Bank and now Facebook.

So, from the above points, you can agree with me that the ban from Facebook is coming so late as the damage has been done already and Steemit is already a giant killer. This is shown in the current market recovery as most market has turned green and our dear Steem & SBD are bullish.

So the question is do you agree with @kenhudoy that Facebook ill conceived Ban has no effect on success of Steem, EOS, BTC, Ether and other genuine cryptocurrencies or do you think that it is the end of Cryptocurrencies due to the ban? Send in your thoughts in comment section.

I didn't know about this. It's really interesting to see facebook banning cryptocurrency ads. But the truth is cryptocurrencies can't die because of Facebook. Because Facebook is already dead.

Sure and Facebook is already seeing reduction of it's user base. Will update on it next time . Thanks for the comment
