Growing my Steemit account (9/14/17 update)

This is currently my fourth week as a member of Steemit. Since I signed up the first two weeks I did absolutely nothing to the account, but since then I have done somethings to grow this account. I tried writing posts, curating posts, and exchanging alt-coins for SP. The best success I have so far is being able to transfer all my faucets rewards into SP via blocktrade.

I feel intimated by a lot of other Steemians because of their success. There are always those Steemians that you see where their posts are scorching in up votes and SBDs rewards. I do not know what type of content I could bring to the table, so I am still searching on what I can contribute to the Steemit ecosystem.

This leads me to say that I have been mostly going solo in growing my Steemit account. The faucets I earn about every sixth day would add up to about 0.5 SP. I am using moon faucets and exchanging all rewards into Dogecoin and then exchanging them through blocktrade for SP. With current price of BTC at $3700 and falling from a high of $5000 I am hoping the cost for SP will drop therefore shorten the time for me to earn more just by using faucets.

As an experiment I recently have started a new strategy, which is roaming through posts and upvoting/resteem/follow where ever I see stats that would result in favorable rewards for curators. My understanding is posts within 15-30min since its creation and under (5) upvotes. Not exactly sure if this really works and currently I have yet to earn anything for curation.

In the side of writing my own posts I have found that Steemit standard tools lack the simply tasks that I am so common to such as font styles and text colors that. Not putting down Steemit, but trying to learn what it has to offer. What makes it difficult to generate any SBD on a new post I believe comes from the fact of lack of exposure when it comes to new accounts. There are less followers and less well known in the community. This all make sense but the process of growing an account from its infancy will likely be a uphill climb for me if I do not create more valued posts.

I am still learning on how to actually use Steemit because my goal is to make a solid passive income. So I hope I can get there someday. I will continue to document my progress in hopes to learn and share my experiences to the Steemit community.
