My name is Fretchie. I am from Cebu, Philippines. Cebu is one of the many tourist spots in my country. I will share to you guys what it feels like to be a local in a busy island filled with tourists. I will be sharing an authentic local experience directly from Cebu here on Steemit!
I have been here for a few months now, just lurking around, observing. And after understanding a bit of how the community works, I now have the guts to introduce myself. I've always been wary of exposing myself in online platforms. Knowing how most social media networks induce insecurities and self-consciousness with an endless filter over pictures and posts, only encouraging false marketing instead of confidence about being oneself in your own filter-free environment, I had to make sure that Steemit is not like one of those. And this community is proving to be what I want and need! I've seen so much positivity! I love how everyone are so kind and welcoming to newcomers, too. I've always wanted to share my experiences, both exciting and normal, online and I think this is it!
I hope to come across kind and interesting people here. Fingers tightly crossed!

Hello @Fretchie. Good to see your awesome smile. Yes, I was in Vietnam, 2012-2017, teaching English. I'm American, from Oregon. Now, I'm near Seattle. I miss the Vietnamese and I think about returning daily. I've been writing about my 5 years in Vietnam recently and off and on when I can. I'm back in the USA considering settling down, thinking about different careers, and paths. But maybe in a few years, if nothing better happens for my life, maybe I'll just go back to Vietnam and stay there for the rest of my life or maybe other countries. But I'm taking a break for now from world travel.
Whoa, 5 years, man that's quite awhile. So, how did you end up in Vietnam? !

I met random Internet Friends via social networks like Facebook, Tagged, Skype, etc, was invited to teach in Vietnam. I flew to Hanoi in 2012. My journey began at that point in 2012, November.

On steemit the timeline is do huge with New blogs that Steemify can help with notifications to draw your attention to a reply or a comment or upvote for that matter ( you can choose which notification you want ) and than you reply ! Or read and vote. Thats the steemit way you earn by blogging and commenting. So Thats the Free app steemify.
Appics, partiko and steepshot are like instagram you can post quick to the blockchain steemit. Partiko rewards you for it.
