My name is Aly and I am very grateful to be here with you all in this present moment. I just finished sipping a cup of cocoa (with a hint of rose hips) and now I'm procrastinating folding my laundry. My cat is catting around this old house somewhere. I've been feeling an overwhelming amount of inspiration lately and am looking forward to connecting with new people in new ways. I'm intending on sharing my musings and poetry and maybe other art and music as well. Most of all I hope to open myself up to a new world of possibilities by sharing my raw authentic nature.
I'm someone who loves reading books and taking walks in the forest. I'm an avid gardener and farmed organically for years-- I have my BA in Ecological Agriculture and Cultural Studies. I sing and just started playing the trombone in an all women+'s marching band. I enjoy dancing ecstatically and doing ashtanga yoga. I'm a spiritual person. I value empathy and respect above all and hope to shine my light in ways that might illuminate the way for others also seeking serenity.
I have so many thoughts and ideas I look forward to sharing. First things first: hydration. It's winter here in the PNW and there may be rain falling from the sky but it's so easy to forget to fill my glass this time of year (is this a life metaphor?) When I'm dehydrated I get irritable and anxious so that's no good. I feel so grateful and privileged to have fresh clean water to drink...so many people do not. Water is our oldest ancestor we must treat her well. That's all for now. Cheers!

Welcome to steemit! What got you interested in agriculture?
Thank you! Well to make a long story short I lived in the country for a couple years and raised sheep for 4-H... I was about 9 years old. Later in life I lived in a city and got involved in urban gardening and political activism. I was studying journalism and cultural studies and had an awakening that I needed to take care of the earth and I've never looked back. I studied permaculture, soil science, and regenerative & ecological agriculture systems. I love having my hands in the dirt, working outside, and getting back to the roots of existence. I fear for the future of the planet and hope that more people will get involved in farming and gardening. I believe that we all need to work together to protect the soil and water because without these basic elements there is no possibility for life as we know it to exist. <3
