Introducing Myself To Steemit

Hi! I’m Karlie. I am a writer, entrepreneur, working on being a filmmaker. I’m 18 years old fresh out of high school and for a long time, ​I really didn't know what to do with my life. Trying everything under the sun, doctor, lawyer, at one time even a professional barrel racer. The whole time I was trying to do this stuff, I noticed that it took way too much effort to like it. Writing and film had always kind of called me but, I always told myself I wasn't good enough or pretty enough and the list of excuses could go on and on. Watching my friends fall into where they belonged getting into dream colleges with their parents in pictures smiling and being proud and I wanted that so bad. One day I realized my calling and purpose had been there all along writing, telling all the stories in my head bringing them to life for people to enjoy.

I don't like to call myself a writer. Most of the time I call myself a storyteller because I feel like that’s more of what it is. Writing is a chore telling a story is a gift and an adventure.

After all this self-discovery of deciding to be a writer, I started to write every day with every day that passed I would hit writer's block. If I wrote anything at all it would be crap, nothing excited would happen it felt like someone else was coming up with the words. My friends would even tell me this doesn't even sound like you. I knew that all along but, still I spent two-year writing crap trying to make my parents, publishers, friends happy forgetting why I wrote in the first place. I wrote for me to release the stories and characters in my head that kept me up at night. The minute I let go and just wrote what I wanted to write the words flowed out, feeling better about my work that was actually good and was actually me.

The entrepreneur part comes in from my dad. He is a farmer and not the wear overalls with straw in his mouth taking care of his animals. The kind that grows food for America, putting his livelihood on the line every year to make a good crop. He grows soybeans, corn, cotton, peanuts. I live in cotton country where in the fall fields turn white with cotton. It is a site everyone should see at least ones in their life.

I have a lot of work I would like to share with the Steamit community that I’m hoping yall will enjoy. I’m hoping we can grow and learn together.
